City University College graduates its first cohort

City University College (CUC) graduated its first cohort of Business students, the class of 2020, on Saturday 31st October at Doha British School auditorium in Ain Khaled.

The event was attended in person by students and staff with parents and guests joining virtually.

A dinner at “Bayt El Talleh Katara” with the students, faculty and staff followed the graduation ceremony.

The graduating students received their BTEC Higher National Diploma, awarded by Pearson Education (UK) and recognized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Most of the graduates are pursuing their Bachelor studies with CUC partner, Ulster University Qatar.

Mr. Richard Hollywood, Principal at CUC, addressed the graduates asking them to always challenge themselves: “Keep a positive growth mindset that allows you to consider ways of not only becoming a better person, but being a better person with others.

Having this type of mindset will allow you to learn from mistakes, take risks and keep an open mind to everything you do”.

In his address, Dr. Ahsan Chaudhry, Head of Academics, stressed on the importance of the 3 “C”s to guarantee success in life after graduation: Confidence, Character and Creativity.

The graduates, Faisal Abdul Rasheed and Hawraa Abdul Hussein shared their learning journey on behalf of their classmates and thanked the faculty, management and staff for their continuous support.

CUC has been in operation for 2 years but during that time it has begun to establish itself as a modern and dynamic higher education institution that creates opportunity for all. It originally offered BTEC degrees in Business and recently introduced

Entrepreneurship & Small Business Management, General Computing and Computing & Applications Development.

CUC developed a partnership with Ulster University (UK), and is now offering another academic pathway leading to a BSc (Honours) degree in Business Studies with Master’s degrees to follow in the near future.

CUC in partnership with Ulster University is planning to build a new state-of-the-art campus in Lusail City ready to open in August 2022.
